“Pensjonat pod Różą” is a well-known Polish drama series broadcast from 2004 to 2006. The series consisted of 112 episodes and told the story of three friends – Iwa, Dusia and Maryla, whose fate revolves around the titular, charming boarding house near Warsaw. The main roles in the production were played by Magadalena Walach and her series partner Piotr Adamczyk, Marzena Trybała with her on-screen husband Aleksander Trąbczyński, and Agata Kulesza and Piotr Pilitowski, who played the role of the co-owner of the boarding house.

“The specific point of view of a modern, well-educated woman who is still looking for her place allows the audience to feel that they are watching a series about women, but not only for women,” reads the description of the production on the filmpolski.pl website. The rhythm of the plot was set by the characters appearing in new episodes. Interestingly, some of the series shots were recorded in the oldest monument of Sadyba Garden City in Warsaw.
A wooden manor well known to fans of the series is located at 6 Jodłowa Street in Warsaw, near Lake Czerniakowskie, but it does not belong to the estate of nearby buildings from the 1950s. The house is much older. According to the data of the Capital Conservator of Monuments, it was built in 1950, still in the area of then Czerniaków, and to this day it remains the only house entered in the register of monuments in the Garden City of Sadyba.
After the war, the house fell into disrepair until the building was handed over by the municipal authorities to new owners. Since the 1970s, the manor house has been a quasi-public place – we read on the board at the entrance gate. Here, in the 1980s, there was an underground warehouse of printing materials and paper, and a little later a distribution center for underground publishing houses.

From the 1990s, the manor house was used for filming television series. This is where some of the shots for “Pensjonat pod Różą” were made. Before entering the property, you can even see a photo from the production plan, taken in the original dining room in the kitchen of the manor house.
