Honorary blood donor. What discounts and privileges can it have?

A person who donated blood free of charge and was registered at the Blood Donation and Treatment Center is entitled to the title of “Honorary Blood Donor”. This comes with many benefits:

  • receiving a regeneration meal after donating blood or blood components (1 wafer, 1 juice);
  • dismissal from work for the day of blood donation and the next day, while retaining the right to remuneration (the employer should be notified of the absence, and then the certificate issued after blood collection should be presented);
  • income tax credit based on the amount of blood donated;
  • reimbursement of travel costs to the nearest point where blood can be donated (travel costs are borne by the organizational unit of the public blood service);
  • free laboratory test results (please inform the staff if you wish to receive the results at the time of registration or pre-blood test);
  • receiving a blood group identification card – KrewKarty (free of charge or for a small fee based on the internal regulations of blood donation centers).

Honorary blood donor. Even more privileges

Every woman who donated at least 5 liters of blood and every man who donated at least 6 liters of blood, as well as every person who donated the corresponding amount of other blood components, receives the title of “Distinguished Honorary Blood Donor”. The following privileges are associated with the title:

  • discounts on some medicines or free medicines upon presentation of a prescription issued by a health insurance doctor or health insurance feldsher (required entry on the prescription “ZK” – meritorious blood donor);
  • the right to use out of sequence health care services and pharmaceutical services provided in pharmacies;
  • faster access when applying for a sanatorium;
  • discounts in public transport (depending on the transport regulations in a given city);
  • discounts and reliefs in shelters, hotels, shops and service points operating around the “Donors in Gift” initiative.

How often can you donate blood? Deadlines vary depending on the material you download

donating blood depends on the method of blood collection:

  • whole blood not more often than 6 times a year for men and not more than 4 times a year for women, and the interval between donations cannot be shorter than 8 weeks;
  • plasma no more often than every 2 weeks with a limit of 25 liters per year (net volume, without anticoagulant);
  • platelets no more than every 4 weeks and no more than 12 times a year;
