“Cities like Santo Domingo, Havana, Panama City claim that the guayabera came from there, the truth is that it came to our city and was implanted here and we Guayaquileños have made it our own. Today we can use it with a lot of tourism wealth, it can be an instrument for the creation of new tourism products,” Councilor Pullas reflected on the appointment. “One proposal I thought about is that there is a point in the city where we can have a monument to the guayabera, where international travelers who come to our city can buy it and that represents pride.”

The guayabera, a typical piece of clothing that changes in design and color

The musicians and husbands also attended the celebration which took place today at noon. Schuberth Ganchozo and Angela Zambrano, who encouraged those present with their interpretations inspired by the coastal roots of Ecuador and related to the use of the guayabera, because it is in fact a piece of clothing linked to the first cocoa farmers who used it because of the humid climate of the coast. This was almost 100 years ago.
