MP of the Left on Joanna’s case: It is an attempt to intimidate, humiliate and hunt witches

Due to a life-threatening pregnancy, Joanna decided to take the abortion pill. As her condition deteriorated, she informed the doctor. Officers arrived at the hospital and questioned the woman. The case was commented on by MP Monika Falej.

On July 18, TVN’s “Fakty” broadcast a material devoted to Joanna’s case. The woman was in a life-threatening situation. She made, as she emphasizes, a very difficult decision and bought abortion pills online. After taking them, she felt bad both physically and mentally, so she informed her psychiatrist by phone. She went to the hospital for an examination, for which, as it turned out, a police patrol was also called.

She took an abortion pill and went to the hospital. The police were already waiting in the ward

When she reached the emergency department of the Military Hospital in Krakow, the patrol was already waiting. – I was told to undress, do squats and cough – Joanna reported the examination. Officers were present in the room at all times. – I got undressed. I didn’t take off my panties because I was still bleeding and it was too humiliating, degrading for me, and that’s when I burst, that’s when I screamed in their face: what do you want from me? – he tells. A hospital emergency department doctor recalls that officers asked her about her phone and laptop while the doctor was examining the woman. Joanna was guarded by four policemen, which made it difficult for the doctors to work. Her computer was confiscated and escorted by the police to another gynecology ward where another patrol was waiting. Eventually, her phone was also taken away. – The slogan “” almost launched a manhunt – admits Joanna.

The prosecutor’s office claims that the intervention of the police resulted from the need to assist the Medical Rescue Team. He also emphasizes that he is conducting an investigation based on articles about abortion assistance, but also persuasion to commit suicide. Joanna repeated many times that she ordered the pills herself, no one helped her, and she did not want to hurt herself. The court examining the complaint against the police officers ordered the return of the phone. At the same time, he reminded that there are no grounds to press charges against her.

On Wednesday, July 19, the police published a statement on the shocking case presented in “Facts” of Mrs. Joanna’s story. It appeared on the website of the Police Headquarters in Krakow and on the website of the Central Police Headquarters.

The intervention of the Police took place after the services were notified by a psychiatrist about a possible suicide attempt by his patient and the fact that she had ingested a substance of unknown origin

– in an official position. The police emphasize that the intervention was necessary, as was the confiscation of the laptop and phone, in order to “obtain information about the person distributing products that may threaten the life or health of other people.”

The MP of the Left referred to the case. “It’s an attempt at intimidation, humiliation and a witch hunt”

We asked Monika Falej from the Left for a comment on this matter.

It’s a religious and police state. Let us emphasize that Ms. Joanna, who did not break any law by taking the abortion pill, was treated as a criminal. The intrusion of the police into the hospital, the illegal confiscation of the phone and laptop, the order to strip naked, the participation of police officers in medical examinations – this is not only an action that breaks the law, but deprives Joanna of her dignity. It’s an attempt at intimidation, humiliation and a witch hunt. Because I can’t call it anything else. I expect explanations from the Krakow police and I demand an apology for Joanna

As he points out, the conscience clause used by doctors leads to women reaching for abortion pills themselves. This is why the Left decided to submit a bill “deleting the conscience clause from the medical profession”. The MP adds that she will fight on behalf of Mrs. Joanna and “all terrified women who are afraid of getting pregnant because then they become incubators and hostages of a sick ideology.”
