The series about a group of six friends who live in New York City has gained a cult following over the years. It was shown in over 100 countries, and in the United States alone, the last episode was watched by as many as 51.1 million viewers. “Friends” won a lot of statuettes, including 6 Emmys, incl. for best comedy series. It’s hard to imagine today, but the comedy pearl would have been deleted.
The atmosphere on the set was almost perfect – for a while
The series “Friends” is appreciated by millions of viewers mainly due to its brilliant script, but also outstanding acting. The star cast stood out from other productions – Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc perfectly played their roles. Even though – taking into account the numerous recordings and interviews with the stars – the atmosphere on the set was excellent, and the actors felt almost at home there – the proverbial spoonful of tar in a barrel of honey could not be missing. All because of one conflict.
At some point, the series was called into question
Some time ago, the creator of the Nerdstalgic channel on YouTube recalled the backstage of hard negotiations on the set of the series “Friends”, which took place just before the fourth season. The producers then discussed with the actors of the main roles – at some point the situation became so tense that even the cancellation of the rest of the production and the end of “Friends” in 1996 were considered.
It turns out that the star six tried to negotiate $ 100,000 for each episode of the fourth season. – NBC authorities did not want to agree to this and even created two season endings to prepare for any eventuality – on filmomaniak.pl. At that time, even the complete termination of the series was considered. Eventually, however, everyone came to an agreement, and the actors emerged victorious from the whole situation. From then on, every discussion ended with an increase in fee. For the 9th and 10th seasons, artists earned a round one million after each episode.
