Electronic music has always been an inseparable part of the OFF Festival. This year, the organizers invited the Confidence Man group to Poland, which will come here straight from the Antipodes. In their music, the nostalgia for the 90’s is perfectly audible, as if time has stopped in them, and at the same time their songs are very fresh and conquer clubs all over the world.
Their music takes us to the world of discotheques of the 90’s
The formation was founded in 2016 and consists of four artists who were previously members of other Australian bands. All of them use pseudonyms and divide their powers in half. Janet Planet and Sugar Bones are the frontmen who sing and dance, while Clarence McGuffie and Reggie Goodchild are responsible for the music and perform as masked characters.
His debut album entitled “Confident Music for Confident People” was released only two years later after the start of cooperation, i.e. in 2018. On the occasion of the album’s premiere, the band members admitted in an interview with “” that initially, when they wrote songs together, they did not treat this project completely seriously. Only later did they realize that their joint work made sense.
That same year, the band toured Europe before returning to Australia, where they worked on new material. For a few years, the band was a little quiet, but they surprised the world at the end of 2021 when they released the single “Holiday” as a preview of the second album. The song became very popular the following year and made Confidence Man a significant group on the global map of club music.
In April 2022, their second album “Tilt” came to light and received very good reviews. Patrick Clarke from the British magazine “” stated that the verbal and musical layer in this album perfectly complement each other. He also stated that “‘Tilt’ is a record that proves that campiness and ridiculousness don’t have to come at the expense of true depth.”
They waited until their idol asked them for cooperation
At the end of September last year, a remix of the song “Holiday” performed by Tame Impala was released, which heralds the arrival of the album “Re-Tilt”, which is to be released this year. The members of Confidence Man commented on the collaboration in a press release when the track was released: “It’s not often that one of your musical idols approaches you on Instagram asking if he can remix your track.”
The formation is currently on tour in the UK, and their latest single “Now U Do”, which was created in collaboration with DJ Seinfeld, was announced the “hottest song of the day” on the British radio station BBC Radio 1 in the week of its premiere. The song is an announcement of the next release, whose name and release date are not yet known.
This year’s edition of the OFF Festival will take place at the beginning of August
The Australian group will perform on the third day of the OFF Festival on the Perlage Main Stage, where they will probably play their latest single as well as songs from previous albums. The event will take place on August 4-6, 2023 in Katowice, and a one-day ticket for participation in the festival costs PLN 279. On the other hand, a three-day pass costs PLN 459, and in connection with the campsite we will pay PLN 579 for it.
