The Power TV station was fined for broadcasting the music video of the Weekend group. The National Broadcasting Council decided that the broadcaster’s actions violate the content of the law regulating the ban on advertising alcohol.

“According to the Act on Upbringing in Sobriety and Counteracting Alcoholism, alcoholic beverages cannot be advertised in such a way that they are associated with sexual attractiveness, relaxation and leisure. In addition, only beer can be advertised on television, and only between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.” Virtual Media portal. Bodies monitoring online and television advertising more and more often find exceptions to the rules and numerous abuses by advertisers and influencers.

The National Broadcasting Council punished the station for the Weekend music video

This time, the National Broadcasting Council imposed a fine on the broadcaster of the Power TV station. We are talking about the amount of PLN 30,000 for broadcasting the Weekend music video.

Due to the imminent expiry of the Power TV license, the National Broadcasting Council monitored the station. It turned out that the music video of the disco group Weekend “Wypiujemy Połyniemy” from 2015 was broadcast on the air. The clip could be viewed on the “Power Mix” band in the protected time – before 20:00 with an age rating of 12 years.

The video shows men traveling in a car sipping champagne and alcohol from flasks. Colleagues are smiling and joyfully scrolling through a magazine for men with naked women. In the clip we also see frames from the party, where its participants drink alcoholic beverages from paper cups. In the background, however, you can hear the words: “Today every road has a bar at the end. Today we will give fire to the bank. We will drink, we will sail to the bottom today. This party has no end o la la. We will disturb the night silence, let the current kick us. the night shift gives voice. The owner of the Power TV station explained the situation in May this year.

As Wirtualne Media, Michał Winnicki emphasized that he did not see the music video in any way presenting people drinking alcohol as physically attractive. According to the owner of Power TV, the opposite is true, and the men from the Weekend clip are shown in a rather negative light. He also emphasizes that the music video was also shown by other stations and declares that he does not know yet whether he will appeal against the decision that has been made.
