The chocolate sculpture caused controversy. “Sick people!”. Polish inscription in the background

There are no limits to creativity in confectionery. Sometimes, however, the final effect – although satisfactory for the confectioner – may not be well received by other people. The sculpture of the chocolate man caused considerable controversy.

Cakes in various shapes, figures made of sugar paste, artistic works made of isomalt or chocolate sculptures can cause real astonishment. They are very laborious, require a lot of time, great experience and sometimes a really large amount of ingredients. All this so that the “viewers” would see them, nod their heads in appreciation and… eat them.

Controversial chocolate sculpture

In recent days, photos of an unusual sculpture made of chocolate have been circulating on the Internet. The story behind it is unknown, but the work itself leaves a lot to think about. The controversial creation quickly circulated on forums and Internet portals and aroused a lot of emotions among many people. In the photographs we see a chocolate sculpture made on the model of a naked, black man, lying on his stomach. The proportions are realistic. As if there was actually a human on the table. Flowers were scattered around him. On the material on which the chocolate man is lying, there is a quote from Ernest Hemingway in Polish:

I wasn’t made to think. I was made to eat.

It’s hard to resist the impression that the whole thing resembles a funeral. Others see the scene as a cannibalistic background. Additionally, the use of dark chocolate can be controversial. The sculpture is widely commented on in social media. TikTok user @missingpersons2023 posted her opinion on it. It’s not flattering.

“Sick people!”

The woman said the photos were “super disturbing”. She said that it is not art, nor any exhibition, but the so-called spirit cooking, which literally means soul cooking. This is something of a happening by Marina Abramovic, which many people call an occult ritual. Can we talk about the occult in the case of the chocolate man? It’s hard to form an opinion without knowing the whole story. Despite this, many people were critical of the idea.

I don’t have an appetite

Definitely disturbing and disgusting!

Sick people!

– we read in the comments below the video. The commenters of the tweet that appeared on the profile of the user @iamopenway had a not very different opinion. In the photos posted by him, we can see exactly what the controversial chocolate sculpture looks like.

Honestly, what were they thinking?

This is disgusting!
