She was aunt Stasia from “Klan”. She heard about her husband’s death on the set of the film. “She experienced it terribly”

Viewers associate her with the role of the friendly and always smiling “Aunt Stasia” from the TV series “Klan”, but privately Kazimiera Utrata was severely affected by fate. Until the end of her life, she could not come to terms with the loss that had changed her life almost half a century earlier.

Kazimiera Utrata was born on July 5, 1932 in Warsaw. From an early age she showed a passion for the stage, but when she did not get into theater school the first time, she decided to study Russian philology. Soon after, she joined the ranks of the Student Satiric Theatre, which turned out to be the beginning of her career and the only great one.

They met in the student theater. There was an immediate spark between Utrata and Lusztig

At the same time, the composer, Marek Lusztig, also joined STS and expressed his willingness to accompany the actors on stage during their performances. Kazimiera immediately caught his eye, and she also liked him. The many hours of rehearsals for the play “Youth is Coming”, in which they both made their debut in 1954, gave rise to a deep feeling between them. After five years of living together, they decided to get married, and soon their only daughter, Katarzyna, was born. Both were thriving in their careers – he composed, she acted on stage and acted in films.

Financial problems unexpectedly forced the young to go abroad, specifically to Sweden. Lusztig immediately got a job in the profession, but Utrata could not find herself abroad. She often returned to Poland to act in films and series, for which she was still involved, as Polish filmmakers appreciated her talent and artistry in front of the camera. It was then that she created outstanding acting roles in such productions as “Everything for sale” or in “Monidle” by Antoni Krauze. Ultimately, she decided to return to Poland with her daughter and focus on her career.

The actress’s husband died in a car accident. She remained faithful to him until the end of her life

In 1972, she entered the set of “Glass Ball” directed by Stanisław Różewicz. Unexpectedly, on May 10, she received a message that knocked her off her feet. Lusztig died in a car accident. When she heard the news, she was in the middle of shooting. As it turned out later, the musician fell asleep at the wheel of the car, and worse, he was not alone at the time.

The cause of the accident in Sweden was certainly Marek’s fatigue, who went there as a tourist, with another woman (named Maryla), because as I mentioned – his relationship with Ziuta began to fall apart. (…) Ziuta experienced it horribly. I have the impression that she loved Marek to the end, she could not end this relationship

– Ryszard Pracz in the book “My husband is a director by profession, or like at Barea 2”. After Kazimier’s death, Utrata withdrew from public life, rejected role offers and focused on raising her daughter. My world shattered into a million little pieces in an instant. She finally returned to the screens two years later, starring in such productions as “Promotion”, “White fever”, “Oh my gosh, nothing happened!” or , in which the viewers loved her. In her private life, she found fulfillment only when her daughter got married. She herself was no longer involved with any man, she even claimed that she was unable to love anyone. She remained faithful to Marek Lusztig until the end of her life. Kazimiera Utrata died on August 12, 2018 of a heart attack. She was buried next to her husband at the Bródno Cemetery in Warsaw.
