Mietek Szcześniak grew up in a musically gifted family, because all its members played the harmonium, guitar or other instruments. He was at his best. First, he belonged to the church choir, and as a 6-year-old he joined the band Ikary. Professionally engaged in music during his studies, he is a graduate of jazz vocals at the Academy of Music in Katowice.

Before Mietek Szcześniak earned his coveted diploma, he performed twice on the Jazz Jamboree stage. He especially liked this genre of music. – The jazz environment is the only environment that took me in and understood me, although I never sang jazz and did not deal with improvised music. He started his professional career in the 1980s, joining the Funk Factory group, with which he recorded his first songs for the Polish Radio in Szczecin. Later, he took part in the competition “Everyone can sing”, and then presented himself during the National Youth Song Review in Wrocław.
Success came instantly, because he received an offer to perform at the 22nd . Since the beginning of his career, Mietek Szcześniak has avoided the spotlight and protected his privacy. He never hid, however, that he is a believer and it is faith that drives him to act. God makes me a better artist. Thanks to him, I also feel like a happy person – in an interview for “Your Empire”. Years ago, precisely because of his faith, he received a wave of criticism. Many misinterpreted his words, which made him a religious fanatic. However, he himself maintains that he does not belong to any church and respects everyone, regardless of religion. – I come from a family where there were and are Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox, Moses and non-believers. Everyone sat at the same table and respected each other. That’s why I can’t understand why people are often so alien to each other through religion, especially in a religion based on love – he told in . It was because of the discrimination that he thought of giving up his career. He was afraid that such negative reactions would kill his passion and love for music. Eventually, he managed to overcome the crisis with the support and help of his relatives. Today, Mietek Szcześniak is a lecturer at the Academy of Music, which he graduated from years ago.
