For years, friends rented a house in charming corners of Poland – mainly in the Bieszczady Mountains, Kaszuby or on the Baltic Sea. During the student days, there was no shortage of parties, talks until the morning and sleeping in uncomfortable conditions. However, over the years, everything began to change, as Katarzyna talks about with the WP Woman portal.
The beginning of changes. “They weren’t having fun curing their hangover anymore”
Over time, sleeping on the floor and in a tent in the backyard slowly faded into oblivion. – When friends finished their studies and started earning more, they more and more often decided to go abroad or to stay in a better standard. They didn’t party so intensely anymore, they didn’t enjoy curing their hangover anymore, says the reader of the WP portal.
All-night parties have been replaced by all-day sightseeing and long dinners in higher-standard establishments. Although the group of friends’ trips together became less regular, the tradition did not disappear. Everything changed when the consolation of Agnieszka and her husband came into the world.
The first problems appeared at the beginning
When the consolation of Agnieszka and her husband came into the world, a lot changed. Initially, the couple let go of holiday trips, with an eight-month-old baby it would certainly be more troublesome. However, after a year, a clear declaration was made on their part: “we are going”. The first problems appeared at the very beginning, when choosing a place. – Aga had dozens of comments about the conditions – their room must be on the ground floor, ideally have a travel cot, high chair, foldable baby bath and a whole list of other things. Necessarily not too far away and it’s good that there is a nice playground nearby – enumerates the reader of the WP portal.
“I’m sorry to say it was a tragedy”
In the end, however – after much thought – we managed to find a place by the lake. Despite this, a joint vacation for some did not turn out to be a dream come true. – I’m sorry to say, but it was a tragedy – says Katarzyna. – In the past, this holiday was a great opportunity for us to party, then to relax with friends. Meanwhile, Hania was very lively and loud, she was trying to get everywhere and take everything off the cabinet or table. Most of all, I remember her “give”. Whenever Aga or her husband denied her something, she would burst into hysterical tears and scream.
Katarzyna in an interview with WP also mentions that another tragedy was a joint trip to the beach, accompanied by “screaming, squealing, singing children’s songs and playing with sand.” In the end, the whole trip ended in a tavern brawl. – They were complaining about us we do not understand how it is with a child and that we are immature. We were probably tired of the whole trip, which was totally dominated by their two-year-old. (…) I think everyone regretted that we left together – summed up Katarzyna bitterly.
“I came back even more tired”
Similar experiences regarding holidays were shared with me by 38-year-old Bożena, with whom I talk at Lake Porajskie. – You see, now we can sit on the beach in peace, put our face to the sun and drink coffee. This is my definition of rest. And last year’s holiday with the kids was the complete opposite. – he confesses. – I love my children with all my heart, but after my holiday in Kołobrzeg, I came back more tired than after a 12-hour shift at work. With a lively two-year-old and his five-year-old sister, you have to have eyes in the back of your head, watch every step and think if something bad will happen. Maybe other parents manage somehow, but it’s not on my nerves. Maybe in a few years.
