More than 20 years have passed since Alicja Janosz’s victory in “Idol”. Now the singer returned with her memories of participating in the popular program and the “World Idol” competition organized after it, revealing how much she managed to earn. Many fans will be surprised.

In 2002, Alicja Janosz took part in the first Polish edition. The impeccable voice of the aspiring singer stole the hearts of the jurors and millions of viewers. The 16-year-old reached the final by storm, defeating strong candidates for victory along the way, including m. Ewelina Flinta and Szymon Wydra. Her career quickly gained momentum.

Popularity fell on her like a bolt from the blue. She couldn’t handle the interest

After the finale of “Idol” Alicja Janosz became really loud. The win guaranteed her a performance at the international competition “World Idol”, which was attended by 11 winners from different countries of the world. The singer then sang the song “I Don’t Know How To Love Him” and took 7th place. The event attracted the attention of not only Polish but also foreign media. In an interview with the portal, she admitted that at that time she could not cope with popularity. In addition, she was not guided by intuition and what she wanted, but only did what others expected of her. – World Idol was the moment when I was the most lost and fragile. I think I should sing a different song there. I didn’t look like I was feeling good about myself. I was very critical of myself, she recalled.

Janosz confessed how much she earned from participating in “Idol”. You will be surprised

Her debut album appeared on the phonographic market in 2002, making a real sensation. She promoted it with two singles: “Zmień się” and “I woke up”, which instantly became hits. Janosz began to give regular concerts, the album sold very well, and her songs were played on the largest radio stations in the country and on television music programs. However, this did not translate into earnings. Although she was in the spotlight, the people who worked with her at the time earned the most from her success. – There was a Polish director with whom I met a few years ago at the Fryderyk Award ceremony. And which made me realize how much money he made back then. And I was the center of attention at the time, and I didn’t get a penny for it. And it breaks me. As is sometimes the case in this industry, it’s really all about you. Everyone around has access to this trough, and you manage, you stay out in the cold – she would say bitterly.

It turns out that she did not receive any remuneration for her participation in “World Idol”. Although she counted on the fact that the greatest reward was the opportunity to present herself to a wide audience, she still suffers from the fact that when she worked hard, others were rewarded for it. “I don’t remember getting a dime for participating then.” But the whole point was that all the value we get is our audience. And this is beautiful capital. When I won “Idol”, the servers were down because there was such traffic. (…) Today it’s Instagram, TikTok and you live from ads. You have money to invest in yourself, in music. Financial independence is important in order to afford a good level of implementation – Janosz concluded.
