Rod Stewart has ended his latest UK tour by welcoming an extraordinary guest on stage. At some point, his older sister Mary joined him.

The concert in Edinburgh could not miss one of the artist’s greatest hits – “Sailing”. It was during the performance of this piece that the 16-year-old sister surprised Rod Stewart by walking out to him with a sailor’s hat. One of the viewers shared a video of this part of the performance.

At some point, the Scottish flag also appeared on the scene – Stewart and his sister have Scottish roots. The video shows that Mary had a great time on stage next to her brother. She not only supported him vocally, but also energetically conducted the musicians accompanying them on stage.

After the concert, Rod Stewart said: “At 94, she’s coming out on the rock ‘n’ roll scene and she loves it. She taught me and still teaches me about life.” In turn, fans of the artist under the material comment that it was an unforgettable evening. “Thank you for posting this! I was there too and it’s great to be able to see it all again. It was a huge privilege to see Sir Rod with his beloved sister on stage. I’m a lifelong fan and I saw him many times, but I will never forget that night”, “What a great big sister. She shows her little brother so much love and support. I cried, I can only imagine how he felt” – these are some of the comments.

Rod Stewart is one of five children in the family

Rod Stewart is the youngest child of Robert Stewart and Elsie Gilbart and his two brothers and two sisters were born in Scotland before his family moved to London where the future rock star was born. His older brothers Don and Bob died last year, aged 94 and 88 respectively. The singer’s older sister, Peggy, died of multiple sclerosis at the age of 40 in 1975.

Steward has finished his UK tour but has recently stressed that he has no plans to retire as an artist just yet. In an interview in 2019, the musician spoke about his siblings: They played a key role in supporting me, helping me get into music.
