Last Sunday, the TVP1 station prepared a special marathon with three episodes of the series “Crown of Kings. Jagiellonowie”. As part of it, episodes were broadcast, the action of which took place during the preparations for the Battle of Grunwald. Next Sunday, July 16, the station will show two episodes in which there will be a historic skirmish between the Kingdom of Poland and the Teutonic Order.
TVP1 will repeat the special episodes and then show new episodes
Thematic episodes of the series “Crown of Kings. Jagiellons” about the Battle of Grunwald have numbers from 74.-78. For those who will not be able to see them now, TVP1 will show them again in the fall. Earlier, the station is going to show episodes numbered 66-73.
You will be able to watch reruns of “Crowns of the Jagiellonian Kings” on Telewizjiona Jedynka from Monday, August 28, 2023. However, the exact broadcast time of the series has not yet been announced. Most likely, however, it will be in the evening, when new productions of the autumn schedule will be shown.
Jedynka will also broadcast a documentary about the Battle of Grunwald
TVP also plans to celebrate the date of this event in a different way. On the exact anniversary of the historic clash, i.e. on Saturday, July 15, 2023, the documentary film “Grunwald 1410” directed by Krzysztof Łukaszewicz will be premiered on TVP1. The film also includes historians’ comments on the origins, course and significance of the battle, and this is the official description of the production:
The most famous battle in Polish history will be presented from the point of view of the three most important participants: King of Poland Władysław Jagiełło, Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas and Grand Master of the Teutonic Order Ulrich von Jungingen. They will play their characters as in the series ‘The Crown of Kings. Jagiellons’: Sebastian Skoczeń, Michał Chorosiński and Szymon Nygard. These three will set off from contemporary Krakow, Vilnius and Malbork to meet on the battlefield of Grunwald and at the same time bring the viewers closer to the motivations and dilemmas of the participants of the historical struggles they create.
