Margot Robbie dresses exactly like Barbie. They made her “adult” versions of iconic costumes

According to Margot Robbie, the production directed by Greta Gerwig is to convince even those who are not fond of the legendary toy to Barbie. – If you love Barbie, you’ll love this movie. If you don’t like her, you’ll love her. And if you love good cinema, you will surely like it – he says about “Barbie”. And she promotes the title willingly in outfits inspired by a doll. “Barbie” hits Polish cinemas on July 21.

At the premiere in Los Angeles on July 9, Margot Robbie joked that she had been wearing so much pink lately that she was happy to opt for an elegant black dress. He prepared it for her, like the others in which he promotes “Barbie”, Andrew Mukamal. There’s a very, very strong take on the iconic doll’s specific models in these outfits – including the tight sequined tulle-trimmed dress the actress wore in Los Angeles. The model was the classic Barbie model from the 1960s. Solo in the Spotlight Barbie reappeared for the brand’s 50th birthday.

Another non-pink creation in which Robbie appeared is a tribute to the first doll, which was produced around 1959. However, while a few decades ago Barbie wore a costume, in Sydney, in her native Australia, Robbie presented herself in a variation on it – a short mini. However, the costume itself appears in the production trailer.

But mostly in pink

In Los Angeles, Margot Robbie also showed up in a pink mini skirt similar to the one worn by Barbie in 2015. It is a combination of the colors in which the creators dressed the doll with the cut of the Valentino fashion house, which could be seen in the spring-summer collection from 1993. But that dress was maroon with white polka dots.

Sparkling Pink Barbie from the 1960s stimulated the imagination of the stylist when he was preparing a promotional look for the trip of the Greta Gerwig film crew to South Korea. At a press conference in Seoul on July 3, Robbie appeared in a two-piece costume reminiscent of Moschino’s design and appearance of a doll produced in 1964. The actress wore a cute pink fascinator on her head.

In Korea, Robbie also wore an 80s-style outfit. The costume with the hat looks virtually identical to the one the 1985 toy was wearing. The skirt from Versace is part of the Day to Night Barbie outfit. On the pink carpet before the official premiere of “Barbie”, Robbie also had a mobile phone in her hand like from those years. Back then, however, the “bricks” were black rather than pink.

Day to Night Barbie had – as the name suggests – two versions of the outfit. When she took off her hat and suit after work, she could slip into a tulle dress. So did Margot Robbie in South Korea. Versace’s design is close to the original, although changes can be seen, e.g. in the shape of a neckline.

In Mexico City, the actress presented something from the 90s – in two versions. The first was a dress inspired by the Earring Magic Barbie from 1992. Balmain is responsible for it, and Bryce Scarlett is responsible for the hairstyle, which in this case plays no less a role.

Robbie also showed up in a rainbow Pucci mini paired with Chanel earrings. This look was a tribute to Totally Hair Barbie (also from 1992). Of course, the crimped hair was of great importance here.
