The third season debuted with a bang. Netflix shared the viewership results and they show that the new series based on the work of Andrzej Sapkowski is the most popular English-language series among platform users around the world. Viewers spent 73 million hours watching the first five episodes of the final season with Henry Cavill, which with 4.49 hours of footage gives a total of 15,200,000 views. Present in second place on the global Netflix Top 10 list, the sixth season of “Black Mirror” has already been watched for 28 million hours (5,400,000 views). Good viewership results undoubtedly also please the Polish actress who played in the new season.
Olszańska in The Witcher. We will die of envy
The plot of the fifth episode of the new series “The Witcher” revolves around a great ball. Its essential part is quite a breakneck dance routine, in which both Yennefer, i.e. Anya Chalotra, who plays Geralt in the series, as well as many other cast members playing the roles of magicians, sorceresses and important notables. One of such characters is the sorceress Marti Sodergren played by Michalina Olszańska.
The Polish actress, who previously played one of the main roles in the series “1983” – the first Polish production of Netflix – shared a joint frame on her Instagram profile where she is dancing with Henry Cavill. And it should be emphasized that this is a picture full of tension: Geralt is clearly embarrassed by female attention, while Marti looks at him as if she wanted to eat him.
“It was such an amazing adventure. I met so many wonderful and talented people, I learned so much and I just had a great time and enjoyed every minute spent on the set,” Olszańska wrote next to the frame from her stage.
Readers of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books may remember Marti from the scene of the ball described in the volume “Czas pogardy”. Marti specializes in healing magic, is a friend of the sorceress Sabrina Glevissig, and Yennefer somewhat maliciously accuses her of nymphomania. During the party, she talks to her close friends about the famous Geralt of Rivia, and he manages to overhear a snippet of their conversation – although it is in the language of the elves. The sorceresses, convinced that no one hears or understands them, evaluate the appearance of the witcher and exchange their observations – one of them claims that he is attractive enough to get intimate with him, even on a hedgehog. According to the description in the book, the actress playing this character should be blonde, but considering how conventionally the creators of the series “The Witcher” approach this type of issue in the case of secondary and third characters, it can be safely concluded that Olszańska’s dark curls are only a slight deviation from the original. In fact, she would be suitable to play Yennefer from beauty.
