In the 1980s, Danuta Lato was called the owner of the most famous bust of the People’s Republic of Poland. Size 90G (dimensions 110-58-84) had to attract attention. And they returned – at first, however, definitely not in the way Irzyk (that’s her real name) would like. The figure-distinguished young girl was talked about and ridiculed in her environment. People also did not like the fact that at the age of 20 she separated from her husband after a week and decided to divorce. As she said in one of the interviews, it was not a wedding out of love, but out of common sense.
Topless photos became her ticket to film and television
Later, Danuta Lato often went against the traditional view of social roles and bravely broke conventions. First of all, the young woman exchanged her job as a kindergarten teacher for a career in the photomodeling industry, posing topless. Apparently, a German businessman saw her for the first time when she was working in the garden and practically offered her a job. In West Germany, she posed for the German “Playboy” or the more daring “Penthouse”. About a year after leaving for Germany, in 1985, she made her debut in front of the camera. In the crime comedy “Drei und eine halbe Portion” (“Three and a Half Portions”) she played a stripper.
Although her role in the telenovela “In the maze” was only a guest – Lato appeared in three episodes, it did not go unnoticed. She played the role of a model – Barbara, the fiancée of Grzegorz Białek (played by Janusz Bukowski). Also on the show, she kind of had to stand up to others and defend her choices. Białek and his ex-wife quarreled, among others that Barbara persuades their daughter to pursue a career in modeling. – This is your daughter, what do you want to do with her? The fact that your … fiancée shows up naked does not mean that Marta should do the same – said Joanna (Sławomira Łozińska). – Oh Asia, Asia, what world do you live in? – Bialek asked, convincing that it was nothing wrong that an American photographer taking pictures of Barbara for the spread would take several pictures of the 16-year-old. Barbara herself, in one of the subsequent scenes, spoke with distance about the fact that she was returning to New York to shoot a commercial in which “they would use her greatest talent”. “Americans are crazy about boobs,” she explained.
In Lato’s filmography on the Filmpolski.pl website, there are only three items: the German feature series “Dziedzictwo Guldenburgów” from 1987, the film “Felix” from 1988 and the telenovela “In the Labyrinth”. Broadcast from December 25, 1988 to June 26, 1991, the production was extremely popular in Poland, reaching up to 16 million viewers. Apart from the role of Barbara Lato, however, she failed to become widely known on Polish television.

In music, however, she even achieved international success. This is how you should call the joint recordings with Samantha Fox, the British known for the hit “Touch Me”. They both sang disco and both started out posing topless.
The most famous solo song by Danuta Lato had a similar title: “Touch My Heart”. It was accompanied by a more unprudish music video, and the song itself topped the charts in Japan, Spain and the Benelux countries. Summer also used her image by recording the album “Hot Girls – Danuta – Sabrina – Samantha” with Fox and Sabrina (the one from “Boys, boys, boys”). In 1989, however, Lato decided to disappear from show business and pursue a private life (in 1997, she also appeared in the series “Ein Fall für zwei”).
It is known that she settled in Germany and took up physical therapy. – I love my homeland and I want my compatriots to be proud of me. And in the country I was made the worst prostitute – she explained her decision to emigrate in an interview quoted by numerous Polish media (she was supposed to give it to “Super Express”). Some sources say that she divorced a second time and is raising a child or children alone. In November, she will celebrate her 60th birthday.
