One of the participants of the event organized on the occasion of the Days of Włodawa decided on July 1 to express his dislike of music and threw eggs at the musician. Security did not manage to catch the perpetrator right away, but the police managed to capture the 57-year-old thanks to surveillance recordings and photos. As it turned out, he was a 57-year-old from outside Włodawa. He made a criminal obligation to pay a fine and was also banned from participating in mass events for two years.
Martyniuk after throwing eggs: We lost our humor for a moment
Even on stage, Zenek Martyniuk, who managed to dodge the eggs flying towards him, emphasized that such a situation had never happened to him in his 30-year career. And he has already played with Akcent about several thousand concerts. The “King of disco polo” admitted that at that moment he wanted to end the performance, but decided to keep the contract with the authorities of Włodawa. “Unfortunately, but it will be such a very sad concert” – p
After the incident, Martyniuk gave an interview to Plejada and stated that ending the event because of such an incident would not be an honorable step on his part. The organizers apologized to the performers, as did members of the audience. “It was a small incident at the beginning. (…) We lost our humor for a moment, but the audience later made up for it and had a lot of fun with our songs” – noted the leader of Akcent. He also revealed: “The organizers joked that Zenek not only sings great, but also has good reflexes. And that’s true, because I studied in the sports class of the 4th Secondary School in Białystok. I practiced athletics there.”
Martyniuk admits that he did not notice the perpetrator throwing eggs. Quite logically, however, he observed:
You should interrogate this person and find out why they did it, because so many people liked the concert, and only one did not. If this man doesn’t like my music, he should walk out of the concert.
Recall that the 57-year-old police explained that he did not like Zenon Martyniuk’s music, which is why he threw eggs. However, the singer assumes that he does not have to worry about the unpleasant incident and comments:
They say it’s a “huge shame” and I don’t think it’s a shame for us, the person who threw the eggs should be ashamed. The organizers appreciated my attitude, because in the history of the city of Włodawa they had never seen such crowds at a concert.
Martyniuk also noted that it was a strange coincidence that only someone was recorded throwing eggs, but no more videos of the audience chanting an apology. “I don’t know if it was intentional,” he says.
Zenek Martyniuk is called the “king of disco polo” for a reason. Akcent was founded in 1989 together with Mariusz Anikiej. Together, they have already recorded 15 albums and, with minor breaks, have been giving concerts all over Poland for nearly 30 years – the group has promoted such hits as “Through your eyes green”, “Życie to fleeting moments” or “Przekorny fate”. Martyniuk’s biography was a loose basis for the script of the parabiographical film “Zenek”, which was made by TVP. The premiere took place on Valentine’s Day 2020. It should be emphasized that in order to spice up the drama, the plot of the kidnapping of the son for ransom was included.
