Weeks of preparation have passed for reigning champion Miki Sudo ahead of local celebrity Nathan’s hot dog eating contest. A woman who lives in Florida, won the competition eight times from 2014 to 2022, and will compete for his ninth title this July 4th.

Miki, 38, holds the world record for women for the number of hot dogs eaten in 10 minutes with 48 and a halfthe number he reached in 2020. Eleven days before the competition, he spoke to DailyMail.com about his preparations for the annual competition at Coney Island, where huge celebrations for the United States’ Independence Day are held each year.

“I feel very calm. I feel better than any year before. I’ve been working out a little bit, but more importantly, I feel like I’m in a really good place,” said Miki, who is third overall on Major League Eating.

“I was very conscious of what I ate, how I rested, how much time I spent in the gym,” Sudo said. As for the magic number she wants to hit, Miki said she’s ‘undecided’ whether to make it public, but hopes to reach 50 before one day retiring from competition for good.

“Obviously, I want to be 50 years old on stage before I retire. I’ve done it at home so many times, but not in competition. 48-and-a-half is an arbitrary number, so I’d like it to be around 50, but I don’t know,” he told DailyMail.com.

Miki said he would make “corrections” in his technique, plans to eat one hot dog at a time, instead of eating “two back to back.” “I work really hard trying to hold my breath and if I try to go fast, I can’t hold my breath, then I burp and it can look like I’m going to throw up.”

Sudo has records not only in this food, but also in the consumption of ice cream, kimchi and corn dogs. Miki consumed ice cream in the shortest possible time, 9 liters in six minutes, as well as the largest amount of kimchi consumed, 8.5 pounds in six minutes, and the largest amount of corn dogs in eight minutes (21). .

However, these foods are not part of Miki’s daily diet. The contestant revealed that her favorite food is the typical kale vinegar salad with hot sauce topped with avocado and chicken. Her breakfast consists of low-fat plain Greek yogurt with fresh fruit and chia seeds. (AND)
