The inflation of the last 12 months in Lime Metropolitan reached 6.46% in June 2023, a slight drop of 0.15% that places it as the lowest in 18 months (since February 2022), according to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics. (INEI).

According to said report, the price decrease was registered in the following consumer divisions: food and non-alcoholic beverages (-1.20%); transport (-0.28%); accommodation, water, electricity and Gas (-0.13%); and communications (-0.02%).

The sectors that rose in price were restaurants and hotels (0.72%); miscellaneous goods and services (0.40%); clothing and footwear (0.34%); alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (0.33%); recreation and culture (0.31%); health (0.25%); as well as education and furniture, articles for the home and ordinary maintenance of the home (0.15% in each case).

The price reduction of food and non-alcoholic beverages was due to the lower prices observed in meat (-7.4%), such as gutted chicken (-16.5%); chicken cuts: wings (-12.7%), breast (-9.0%) and leg (-9.0%); Milanese (-7.6%); chicken giblets (-6.7%); and eviscerated chicken (-1.2%). There is also a decrease in coriander (-34.3%), hydrated dressings (-5.7%), special ground chili pepper (-5.0%), ground yellow chili pepper (-4.1%) and ground garlic (-3.7%) .

Regarding oils and fats (-1.0%), bottled vegetable oil decreased (-2.4%); in milk, cheese and eggs (-0.5%), chicken eggs drop in price (-2.9%); and between vegetables, legumes, potatoes and other tubers (-0.1%), the prices of celery (-18.1%), beets (-15.5%), corn (-14.6%), lettuce (-11.6%), chili pepper (-11.6%), green bean (-8.8%), carrot (-8.2%), cassava (-7.4%), yellow potato (-7.2%), huairo potato ( -7.2%), white potato (-6.8%), colored potato (-5.4%), yellow sweet potato (-3.8%) and tomato (-3.6%).

What products went up and down the most in June?

In June 2023, of the 586 products that make up the family basket, 371 registered price increases, 131 fell and 84 products maintained their prices.

The products with the highest price increases were red head onion (45.19%), pretty (27.93%), mango (23.83%), Chinese onion (18.17%), spinach (17.97%), white grape (17.54%), horse mackerel (13.75%) and mackerel (11.59%).

What is the price variation in the cities of the country?

In this period of analysis, 22 cities in Peru registered a price reduction. The most significant negative variations were observed in the cities of piura (-0.88%), pucallpa (-0.75%), Chimbote (-0.60%), Ica (-0.51%) and Huancavelica (-0.45%). while the four cities that went up in price in june they were Arequipa (0.19%), tumbes (0.18%), Chiclayo (0.12%) and tarapoto (0.06%).
