Hollywood, but not only, often realizes its productions in different parts of the world. Productions are also shot in Europe. The reason is not always historical accuracy and the script that places the characters in famous places of the Old Continent. It happens that filmmakers are attracted by unique frames that match the series or film, and even low production costs. When foreign filmmakers appear in Poland, it becomes loud almost immediately. This was the case, for example, when artists from India came to Gdańsk. There have been more frequent visits.

Not just Schindler’s List. Steven Spielberg also made a thriller in Poland
he produced his in the building of Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory, which today houses the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow. The filmmakers also visited the Kraków market square, Kazimierz and the Kraków Główny railway station. This is certainly one of the most famous and loudest foreign productions shot in Poland.
Spielberg returned to Poland while working on the film “Bridge of Spies”. Some of the scenes in the thriller set during the Cold War were shot in Wrocław, which “played” Berlin at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s. on Kurkowa, Miernicza and Ptasia streets, where the Berlin Wall was built.
David Lynch shot “Inland Empire” in Lodz. “I love this city”
He also came to Poland several times. The director of “Mulholland Drive”, “Dune” and the creator of “Twin Paaks” is particularly fond of Łódź. – I love this city, it drives me crazy – in 2006. One of the productions he made in this city was “Inland Empire”, in which Leon Niemczyk and Karolina Gruszka also appeared alongside Laura Dern and Jaremy Irons.
“Avalon”. Japanese production filmed in Wrocław
At the end of the 1990s, the Japanese director Mamoru Oshii, best known for directing a full-length animation based on the manga “Ghost in the Shell”, came to Poland. Oshii decided to make a science fiction production in our country, the action of which will take place in the near future, in which people are becoming more and more addicted to the war game. Avalon was shot in in Wrocław, but also in Warsaw, e.g. in the building of the National Philharmonic or in the Modlin Fortress. It’s not everything. The main role in the film was played by… Małgorzata Foremniak.
“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. Not only Polish mountains
The production based on the novel by CS Lewis was partly carried out in Poland. The photos were taken in on Lake Siemianowskie. The film also features well-known landscapes from the Stołowe Mountains. In the next installment of the series, the film “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”, the team also went to the Karkonosze National Park, where one of the scenes was shot in the gorge of the Kamieńczyk waterfall.
