Pour it on a plate and soak the sheet. An unusual trick will save you time and money

The season of preparing preserves for the winter has started. Fruit and vegetables are slowly starting to fill the home pantries. To avoid problems, it is worth taking care of the exact description of the content. No glue on hand? That’s okay. There is a trivial and cheap way to make the card stick to the jar.

Have you ever peeked into your pantry and didn’t know what was in the jar? Unlabeled homemade preserves can cause confusion. Although you think you know what you’ll find inside, after a few months this certainty can be deceptive. If you want to avoid unpleasant surprises, remember to stick the label and accurately describe the contents. You don’t need special stickers for this. Just trivial.

Labels for preserves in jars. You don’t need glue or tape

It’s time to prepare preserves. Jams, marmalades, juices and vegetables will slowly fill the pantries. To avoid problems with guessing what is in the jar, it is worth describing them. Labels can be simple, you can also design them yourself or reach for ready-made designs. You don’t need any glue or tape or expensive label machines to attach them to the jar. All you need is a sheet of paper and… cow’s milk. Once the jar of preserves has cooled down, wipe it thoroughly to remove any impurities, then wipe it dry. What’s next?

  1. Pour some warm cow’s milk onto a plate or saucer.
  2. Wet the previously prepared label by wetting the underside. Do it carefully so as not to blur the inscription.
  3. Glue the wet sheet to the jar and press down with a cloth or paper towel, removing excess liquid.
  4. Leave to dry.

Labels attached in this way stick well to the dish. If you want to get rid of them, soak the jar in warm water and the sheet will come off easily.

Not just for labels. How to glue porcelain with milk?

Milk is not only useful for sticking labels to jars. It will also save a broken mug, plate or porcelain cup. Sounds weird? This one has been known for years. Prepare a vessel larger than the broken one, duct tape and milk. Put the broken porcelain together and attach the individual pieces together with tape. Put it in a dish and pour hot milk. Cover and set aside for two days. After all, take out the china, remove the tape and wash from the rest of the milk.
