The star of the series “The Handmaid’s Tale”, Elizabeth Moss did not experience such traumatic situations on her own skin, which we see on the screen. However, her life was not colorful either. In interviews, the actress points out that her marriage to Fred Armisen was a nightmare for her.

Elisabeth Moss is an actress with many television series and awards under her belt. The artist was most popular for the role of June Osborne in the dystopian series “” based on Margaret Atwood’s novel from the mid-1980s. For playing one of the inhabitants of Gilead, the actress received, among others, an Emmy Award for the best role in a leading role in a drama series.

She played in “The Handmaid’s Tale”, her real marriage was also “terrible”

The Handmaid’s Tale tells the story of a future in which a racist-nationalist religious organization takes over part of the United States. The new rulers introduce a military dictatorship and rules based on the Old Testament. The rulers of Gilead take the words of the Bible literally and start breeding fertile women with the goal of continuous reproduction. In the country, the titular handmaids cannot have children of their own, they give them to higher-ranking couples, relationships are also prohibited.

Elizabeth Moss was traumatized not only on the set of the series. As she told in an interview with New York Magazine, her marriage to Fred Armisen, known from “Saturday Night Live” and the role of Uncle Fester from “” left much to be desired. The couple separated in 2010, just eight months after their wedding.

“When I look back, I was very young at the time, I didn’t think that about myself. It was extremely traumatic, terrible, terrible. At the same time, it was all good for me,” says Moss.

Moss and Armisen met in 2009. They got married a year later. “I’m glad it’s in the past, that it didn’t happen when I was 50, that we didn’t have children. I’m done with it. Let’s hope this situation will not happen again,” adds the actress.

“He’s best at impersonating a normal person.”

Elizabeth Moss admits that ultimately it was the tabloids that opened her eyes. The actress has always kept her distance from what she read in this kind of press and gossip portals, but in this case it was not just about stretching the truth and insinuations. “I was really reading about things I said or did that were 100 percent made up,” Moss points out.

This is not the first time the actress has accused her ex-husband of bizarre behavior. In 2012, in an interview with Page Six, Moss admitted that her husband has a knack for pretending to be someone he is not. “One of the most accurate things I’ve heard about my husband is that he’s great at impersonating others, but he’s best at impersonating a normal person. To me, that sums it up perfectly. I’ve never told anyone that before. I don’t want to waste my life on talking about it,” the Emmy winner said in an interview.

In an interview with Howard Stern, Armisen admitted that the failed relationship with Elizabeth Moss was his fault. “I think I’ve been a terrible husband and I’m a terrible partner,” he said. “I want everything, fast,” the actor explains. “I want to get married right away, and after a year or two I start to freak out and feel bad about every person I’ve dated.”
