The body of the British actor Julian Sands has been identified in California after hikers found human remains over the weekend in the Mount Baldy desert in southern California (USA).
The actor, known for his appearance in films such as ‘Naked Lunch’ (1991) and ‘A Room With a View’ (1985) -, has finally been confirmed dead. “On Saturday, June 24, 2023, at around 10:00 a.m., civilian hikers contacted the Fontana ‘sheriff’ station after they discovered human remains in the desert on Mt. Baldy (…) The decedent was transported to the coroner’s office, pending identification to be completed next week,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department explained when the human remains were found.
Sands disappeared on January 13 after hiking alone in the Baldy Bowl area of the San Gabriel Mountains, some 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Los Angeles and was wanted by drones and helicopters, due to avalanche risks and dangerous conditions of the trail hindered the actor’s land search.
Sands was born on January 4, 1958 in Otley, West Yorkshire (England), and moved to California in the 1980s. His last residence was in North Hollywood. His career has been marked by film and television projects. Among his notable works are the film ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ (2011) and Jackie Chan’s action comedy ‘The Medallion’ (2003), as well as his participation in series such as ‘Smallville’ or ‘The L Word’.
