Some time ago, he started to make popular anime in the live action version, but so far none of the productions has been a spectacular success. The breakthrough was supposed to be an actor’s adaptation, but this time the critics did not leave a dry thread on the creators. Despite the negative reception, the website does not give up on the chosen strategy and announces another production in this category.

Netflix is ​​not stopping at trying to reach new audiences. This time the creators decided to make a movie that all fans of Japanese animated films are sure to know. Of course, we are talking about “One Piece”, which was based on the manga by Eiichiro Oda. The first edition was published in 1997 and since then it has enjoyed unflagging interest among readers. This is one of the most popular and longest titles in the history of this genre. Its success is confirmed by as many as 150 manga volumes, 20 anime seasons, 15 full-length productions and over a dozen video games.

The main character of “One Piece” is Monkey D. Luffy, who leads the Straw Hat pirate crew. The story revolves around his adventures. The young captain dreams of finding a legendary treasure and thus becoming the king of pirates. However, it turns out that the road to achieving the goal is full of challenges and unexpected twists. In order to achieve the goal, he has to face the difficulties he encounters.

The budget of “One Piece” even surpassed “Game of Thrones”. What is the cost of one episode?

According to a report from the Daily Dose of Anime, Netflix has spared no expense on the live-action version of One Piece. The production of one episode is about 18 million dollars, which in the final version placed the production in second place among the most expensive platforms. The first place invariably belongs to “Stranger Things”, which cost about $ 30 million per episode during the production of the 4th season. The new production, however, will surpass the hit produced by , whose budget per episode was $ 15 million.

Matt Owens, the creator of the “Luke Cage” series, and Steven Maeda, who co-created such productions as “Lost” and “The X-Files”, are responsible for the implementation of the live-action remake of the cult manga. The main character will be played by Iñaki Godoy, while the other roles will be played by Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson and Taz Skyla. The premiere of the production is planned for August 31, 2023. The first season will have 10 episodes, and the continuation of the series will depend on the ratings and reviews.
