For many women, the characters of the Sex and the City series were icons of beauty throughout its six seasons that ran from 1998 to 2004, in which Sarah Jessica Parker played the series’ main guru, Carrie Bradshaw.
In front of the cameras, the actress became a popular fashion writer who always had her hair and makeup perfect, in addition to her clothes that fit every occasion and place, her nails being the only exception to the rule.

In an interview with People magazine, Parker revealed that she was not a fan of manicures as she considers herself a woman who has to cook, clean and wash clothes like any other, so the nail polishes didn’t help her much.
Although her character was not a housewife, she did not get her nails painted for practical reasons, as she is a writer and had to learn how to write on a machine in her youth.
“They seemed useless because they would always break down and were an obstacle on the fast track to the transcription of his thoughts,” the Hollywood star said during an interview with Glamour. “It just never seemed like something Carrie would spend time expressing herself.”

Another hindrance that kept Carrie Bradshaw from getting a manicure on Sex and the City was that it made production more difficult, as the episodes were not shot in one day.
In that sense, he said in the interview that it was really annoying to have to paint the nails the same color so that they would stay the same in every scene.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that Sarah Jessica Parker has her nails messy in real life or in the series, as she’s always been keen on keeping them well-groomed, in its short, classic, and natural version.
