Kaja Paschalska admits that this song was her “biggest failure in life”. “I cried”

Kaja Paschalska became known to the wide audience at the age of 11 thanks to the role of Ola Lubicz in the soap opera “Klan”. The actress has been playing this character continuously since 1997, but otherwise she tried her hand at the music market as a singer very early. In one of the last interviews, she admitted that there is one song that she particularly regrets recording.

Kaja Paschalska released her debut album in 2001. This one was titled “Kaja Paschalska” and featured singles such as “Tylko Ty” or “Friend from the moment”. The album sold 23,000 copies, and in the same year the singer received the Anna Jantar Award in the debutants’ competition during the 38th National Festival of Polish Song. In 2002, she even received a Super One for the best debut in the past year.

Paschalska cuts herself off from “Little Chinka”

Kaja Paschalska followed suit and the second album entitled “Kaja 2” was released in 2003, but it was not as popular as her debut album. The album ranked only 44th in the sales ranking and went unnoticed. It was loud about Paschalska in 2005, when the song “Mała Chinka” hit the market. The piece and the clip caused considerable controversy – at the same time, it was believed that the text shows Poland as a racist country, and the melody is kept in too light and disco atmosphere.

The vocalist actually sings in the chorus, “Little Chinese Girl, Chiku Chiku Linka, all I see in her eyes is anger. Oh Little Chinese Girl, Chiku Chiku Linka, you hear me sing right now.” Paschalska’s song has been weaved for years, and hardly anyone remembers that she actually appeared in it as a guest. The author of “Mała Chinka” is the Warsaw rapper Funky Filon, and the song appeared on his second original album “Pan Fikoł”. Fifteen years after the premiere of the work wz wp.pl, Kaja Paschalska emphasized:

I never commented on it after the fact. It wasn’t my song. It was featuring. I played with a friend who used to go to concerts with me as a DJ. It was supposed to be a song with a sad message. There was no racist content there. I am absolutely tolerant, so I cut myself off from it.

In turn, in an interview with “Pudelek Show”, she added: “It was a big blow for me. I did not expect that the Chinese Chikulinka could have such an impact. It was basically, a friend I played with called me, we like each other, why not. He showed me the lyrics, I didn’t really know what it was about, he told me it was a kindergarten song. The message was more tolerance in people.” It wasn’t easy for her to deal with the consequences of her impulsive decision:

Then what happened happened. It actually cost me a lot to forgive myself. I wasn’t alert at all, I could have considered it. It was a shocking experience, I cried and locked myself in the house.

Paschalska, however, did not give up music. She still plays in , but for example in 2010, thanks to the song “No show, what you can afford” sung with Piotr Kupicha from Feel and Izabela Trojanowska, she won the “Serial hit of the summer” competition in Opole, and in 2015 she took third place in the program ” Your face sounds familiar”. In 2017, she directed the music video for her single “Karma”, and in 2019 she started working with the rapper again. This time she joined forces with VNM and sang in the song “Fosa”, which was included in the album “Czuz tudaj najs”.
