Trying to come to terms with the past is a very popular theme on which the stories of many superheroes and other movie characters are based. We can see a repeating pattern, for example, in the latest production from the DC universe – “Flash”, where the main character must understand that some things he will not be able to fix, but he can accept them. The consequences of not coming to terms with the past for years can be seen in the adventures of, for example, Batman, whose sense of life after losing his parents became obsessed with revenge.
Iron Man 4. Why shouldn’t the movie be made?
The past should be accepted not only by superheroes, but also by their fans. They react very enthusiastically to recently popular films full of nostalgia and well-known characters from years ago. However, not all of them should return to the screen.
One of such heroes is definitely Iron Man, played by the hero for years. It was Iron Man who saved the world from Thanos in the final scene of the great battle in Avengers: Endgame. The character of Tony Stark has been one of the most popular and beloved by fans. So it’s not surprising that when the MCU decided to introduce the multiverse theme to the movies, Stark fans began to speculate about his return to the screens.
Robert Downey Junior once again answered the same question. I guess he’s had enough of it too
Even before the premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022, where Marvel showed us the possibilities of the cinematic multiverse, it was discussed whether Iron Man would not return. It was said that there is a high probability that Tony Stark from another world will be played. From time to time, the topic returns, and fans press the developers about “Iron Man 4”. The question of the film even arose during the premiere of the automotive series with Downey Jr. “Downey’s Dream Cars”. The actor avoided the ExtraTV journalist’s response and joked, directing the words to Cruise – “Tom, don’t agree to it!”.
The devs have been denying for years that “Iron Man 4” was actually in the plans. In 2019, Iron Man director Jon Favreau made it clear that neither Marvel nor Downey Junior were in talks about another Stark movie. And very well.
The appearance of Iron Man in the next MCU movies is probably inevitable due to the importance of this character, the sympathy of the viewers and the developers’ plans to expand the multiverse. A small easter egg and a wink to loyal Stark fans could work and complement the plot of many productions. However, a solo film would unnecessarily evoke a character with a closed (and how beautiful!) story. Plus, having another Iron Man on-screen adventure so soon after Avengers: Endgame would definitely lessen the impact of the heartbreaking scene in which Stark snaps his Infinity Stone gloved fingers and gives his life to save the universe.
