Piotr Fronczewski is one of the most recognizable actors on the Polish stage. For decades, he has been delighting with his acting skills both in front of the camera and on the stage of the theatre. Many films and performances with his participation have already been hailed as cult. A few years ago, the jubilee of the 50th anniversary of his artistic work fell out. In turn, on June 8, 2023, the award-winning and appreciated actor celebrated his 77th birthday.
However, some of the reflections he included in his autobiography entitled “I, Fronczewski”, published over seven years ago, are not optimistic. The actor has been quite critical about his achievements in the publication. This is surprising because the actor’s artistic output is truly iconic and impressive at the same time. Anyway, since the aforementioned publication, it has grown by another, outstanding items.
Piotr Fronczewski then said that if he could make the choice again, he would not choose the acting path.

“Film is like the Olympic Games. A single performance once in a while. I have a suspicion that I just wasn’t and am not … light sensitive enough for the needs of the cinema screen. There are actors that the camera loves. I think I’m the only one likes it, and that’s probably why I haven’t had any great challenges in Polish cinema,” he said in the published interview-Rzeka.
I’m already on the final stretch, I’m slowly cooling down, and film is primarily the domain of young people. He doesn’t care much for the elderly. You need to have an idea how to develop it, what a guest in the years could have to say from the screen. There are such films in the West. But apparently we don’t have such ideas. But I don’t cry because of it, I don’t suffer much, because I’ve always felt primarily a man of the theatre. I still play in the theater. I’m in a normal stage rhythm. And the movie? I’ve played a lot wrong
– he once said in one of the interviews.
