An Amsterdam court has sentenced Spartak’s top scorer Quincy Promes to 1.5 years in prison for aggravated assault on a cousin, NOS reports.

According to the case file, in the summer of 2020, Promes stabbed his cousin in the leg after an argument at a birthday party. The reason was a long-standing conflict over a stolen necklace. The prosecutor demanded two years in prison, and the victim – compensation in the amount of 1 million euros. The court made a decision on the basis of wiretapped telephone conversations, where Promes claims that his brother was lucky because the footballer wanted to hit him in the wrong leg.

Promes is also suspected of being involved in importing more than 1,300 kg of cocaine in 2020. He is said to have invested in two shipments of drugs. Promes himself denies this, but the Dutch Prosecutor General’s Office claims that the football player had a leading role in smuggling. In particular, he was in contact with people who were supposed to pick up cocaine from containers in the port of Antwerp.
