Avatar: The Last Airbender. Netflix announces a series based on the cult animation
The premiere of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is scheduled for 2024, but so far the exact date has not been revealed. The first photos from the set have been released, featuring Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Dallas Liu as Zuko and Ian Ousley as Sokka.
Opinions on the published teaser and character costumes are divided. Some viewers are delighted: “It already looks insane at this stage”, “Kiawentiio will be amazing as Katara, I just know it!”, but many do not believe that the production will be better than the previous film based on the animation, the failed “The Last Airbender”. by M. Night Shyamalan in 2010. “Doesn’t look good”, “Halloween costumes”, “hope they haven’t given up on all the humor, no one here looks funny,” the skeptics write. There have also been a few voices of reason that call for withholding the assessment until the premiere. “Give it a chance. The fact that you all grew up watching this animation does not mean that you have the right to tell the creators what its adaptation should look like. The original series still exists,” we read on Netflix’s social media.
“Avatar: The Last Airbender” tells the story of a land full of animals and spirits, where the House of Fire tries to take over the world. Other nations stand in his way: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom and the Air Nomads. In each of the groups we will find mages who are able to control one of the elements. Their reality, however, can only be saved by the title Avatar, the most powerful of magicians, able to harness all four elements.
