“Never in my Life” is a cult romantic comedy based on a novel by Katarzyna Grochola. The film hit theaters on February 13, 2004, and audiences immediately fell in love with the story. The production featured many popular actors such as Jan Frycz, Artur Żmijewski or , until now mainly associated with dramatic roles. The creators initially did not want to involve the actress in the role of Judyta. Katarzyna Grochola herself had to intervene.

Danuta Stenka may not have appeared in “Never in my life”. The producers had a different plan
The producers were not convinced about Danuta Stenka. The actress was associated with the dramatic repertoire, and they wanted someone who would work in a comedy production. But that wasn’t the only reason. Initially, they were looking for younger candidates. They had to change their minds when it turned out that the actresses in the scenes between mother and daughter look more like sisters. The producers decided to change the requirements, but they were still not convinced about Stenka.

Katarzyna Grochola herself sought Danuta Stenka’s involvement with the creators. She could not imagine another actress in the role, although initially the producers had a different opinion about it. – She proposed my candidacy to the decision-makers, i.e. the producer and the director, and she kept mentioning that she believed that I should play it. She asked me if I had received this offer or if someone had already called me, but they were not interested – emphasizes Stenka in an interview. Fortunately, thanks to the writer’s determination, she managed to influence the producers. Today, we cannot imagine another actress in this role, but Stenka herself had doubts during the work on the set. – I did not trust myself and I had the impression that maybe I should not play this role – recalls the actress in Jastrząb Post. During the visit, however, she admitted that she did not regret her involvement in the already cult . “I think it was one of my best decisions,” she said.
