The fact that his work has become not only recognizable, but also popular is evidenced by the fact that Anderson became an inspiration for influencers. While frames in the American vintage style so characteristic of the director are no longer a novelty in social media, videos shot in this style and aesthetics are something that has been conquering Instagram and Tik Tok profiles for several weeks .

Wes Anderson has his own trend in social media, mainly on TikTok and Instagram. While photographic frames in the style of the American director’s films are nothing new in social media, short films shot in this aesthetic have been conquering Instagram and tiktok accounts for several weeks.
Nothing in what he creates is accidental. Each of his films is characterized by symmetrical, almost perfectly matched frames. This is the work of cinematographer Robert D. Yeomanow, with whom Anderson collaborates on each of his productions. The plasticity of the frames, their symmetry, colors and the vintage style used to the limit are not just an addition in the director’s films, which is supposed to please the eye, but what is supposed to work on the viewer’s imagination.
The director cares not only about aesthetics, but also about every, even the smallest detail. This was the case, for example, in the film “The Extraordinary Mr. Fox”, where the title character is the author of a newspaper column. The text that the viewer can see on the screen for literally a second is not accidental. This is a 400-word article written by Anderson himself. In the picture “Grand Budapest Hotel” you can see portraits of actors made by the director’s partner, Juman Malouf. They hung in the Görlitz hotel, where the crew and actors stayed during the shooting of the film.

It is also his way of creating good relations between the actors and the crew. Anderson doesn’t want those he works with living in trailers or commuting to the set every day. That is why the team working on the “Grand Budapest Hotel” stayed in the hotel in the aforementioned Görlitz. This approach to work makes the actors want to play with Anderson themselves. They love him for the fact that nothing happens by chance, everything is thought out and makes sense.

Anderson had to wait two years for his latest film. The last production, “Kurier Królewski z Liberty, Kansan Evening Sun”, had its premiere in 2021. In his latest production, “Asteroid City”, there will again be no shortage of retro aesthetics characteristic of him, reminiscent of dollhouse interiors or American interior design from the 1960s and 1970s. Anderson’s trademark, i.e. the ubiquitous vintage style in his productions.

Pastel colors, eye-catching stylizations and scenography will be complemented by Anderson’s symmetrical frames or quick cuts.
The film “Asteroid City” is supposed to be “a poetic meditation on the meaning of life”. There will be a science-fiction thread in it. The plot takes place in a fictional American desert city around 1955, where a convention of amateur astrologers is held where students and their parents from all over the country gather to commemorate the anniversary of Asteroid Day. This place is not accidental, because it was there on September 23, 3007 BC that a meteorite fell to Earth. However, the convention is spectacularly disturbed by the events taking place in the world.
In “Asteroid City”, as it happens in Anderson’s works, there will be comedy threads with absurd and highly eccentric humour, romantic, but also dramatic. It could hardly be otherwise, since Roman Coppola wrote the screenplay together with the director. They both collaborated with Anderson’s productions include “The Darjeeling Train”, “Moon Lovers”, “Isle of Dogs” and “The French Courier…”.

In this retro picture of America from the 1960s and 1970s, well thought out in every detail and full of thought-provoking heroes, there will be plenty of stars. Among the actors who are permanently associated with Anderson, there will be the already mentioned Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Jason Schwartzman and Adrien Brody. They will also be joined by new faces such as Scarlett Johannson, Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Hong Chau and Steve Carrell. Particularly noteworthy is Johannson, who portrays the Hollywood actress Midge Campbell, reminiscent of none other than Judy Garland.
