Together with her husband, actor Zbigniew Dziduch, they fought for the life of their son Ryszard, born in 2002. When the boy was just over a year old, doctors diagnosed him with a brain tumour. Specialists gave him a one percent chance of survival, but the couple decided to fight for recovery. “He was dying in my arms. At one point he didn’t have the strength to cry, he just complained so quietly. I asked God to take him away faster and shorten his suffering. I thought my heart would break – the actress in one of the interviews. Fortunately, the boy managed to survive, but the disease left its mark on the family.

In 2005, Ewa Gorzelak founded the “Nasze Dzieci” foundation, which helps children and families affected by cancer.
