Roman Kłosowski is remembered by the fans for the role of Maliniak in “Czterdziestolatku”. At first, the actor did not want to be involved in the production, later he was a bit disturbed by the label of a construction technician, which stuck to him for years. June 11 marks the 5th anniversary of Kłosowski’s death.

Roman Kłosowski in his youth did not think about a stage career. He was a rebellious teenager and saw a future for himself in sports. He wanted to be a boxer or a footballer, but after joining a drama club, he found his passion for acting. After graduating from high school, he decided to attend the Warsaw theater school. “Professors said I was a theatrical event. How did a man of such vile stature get into the school? he recalled years later. Initially, Professor Aleksander Zelwerowicz, today the patron of the university, was not impressed. – Good voice, but nothing else – during the first meeting. As he admitted in an interview with “” Kłosowski, he heard even more criticism at the beginning of his studies. “Mr. Roman, are you aware that you are… in French, so as not to offend you too much, curduple.” Curduple Dachshund – said Zelwerowicz. Roman Kłosowski made his theater debut in 1953, the same year he also appeared on screens for the first time. In 1956, he played the main role in Jerzy Kawalerowicz’s film Shadow, and in 1964 Aleksander Ford’s The First Day of Freedom. Both productions were in the main competition of the Cannes festival. Initially, he did not want to agree to be involved in the production. He had some reservations about the character. In later years, it was not easy for him that he became Maliniak for many viewers. – It started to annoy me at some point when people would come up to me on the street and call out: Mr. Maliniak! – he confessed in an interview with “Rzeczpospolita”.

And although viewers mainly remember his comedic roles, Kłosowski himself emphasized that he felt better in these more serious creations. “I was playing very seriously and people were laughing. It made me a little nervous, but it made me realize that I have something funny about me – in one of the interviews. – Today I am a fulfilled actor, because Kłosowski was comedic, funny, but he was also suffering and reflective – he admitted in one of the last interviews for . Roman Kłosowski died on June 11, 2018. He was 89 years old.
