The spectacle “Wianki nad Wisłą” will take place on June 24 in Warsaw’s Podzamcze. The TVN station, which will retransmit the concert on its air, joined the organization of the event. This year’s motto of the show is “Bark. I came into the world for this”. Krzysztof Zalewski, Kwiat Jabłoni, Muniek Staszczyk, Natalia Przybysz, or the band Organek, who will perform their own interpretations of the legendary singer’s songs.
Is the spot promoting “Wianki nad Wisłą” plagiarism? “Unfortunately, many themes are highly repetitive”
The singer Ralph Kamiński, who has a special liking for the vocalist Maanamu, will make his debut as the host. In 2021, he released the album “Kora”, for which he received the Fryderyk award in the “poetic music” category. The artist is also the face of the upcoming event and appeared in a spot promoting the event. The video shows the singer in a white car filled with wildflowers. Many Internet users noticed a huge resemblance to the cover of Rubens’ album Fri. Songs Nobody Wanted. An older colleague apparently also noticed this, because an ambiguous comment was placed under Kamiński’s post, in which he boasted about the recording.
Other Instagram users were much more uncompromising. They directly accused the artist of plagiarizing the recording, without mincing words. “It’s great to steal an idea from someone”, “The plagiarism turned out a bit poorly … Rubens was the first”, “Cool plagiarism. Because no one will guess that the idea with the scenery was missed? Very poor”, or “I bet there will be no takers explain themselves, and they should. It’s a pity that Rubens and the late Kora were mixed up in this. Plagiarism is disgusting.”
However, there are also voices defending the artist. People point out that the motif of driving a convertible with flowers is very popular on the web. “Every other wedding session is a convertible with flowers, I think first that someone has to check Pinterest to see if someone has added it before … Unfortunately, many topics are very repetitive”, “Before Rubens spoke, no one even knew that had such a cover. Ralph probably didn’t either”, or “Sorry, but there are hundreds of such photos on Pinterest, for example. Patented so that no one else will carry flowers in the cart?”. At the moment, neither the station nor Ralph Kamiński have commented on the accusations, but a different version of the spot appeared on the TVN channel on YouTube, in which the car driving scenes were not included.
