Audience: This is the most terrifying movie of the year. Horror disappeared from cinemas just before the premiere

The saturation of viewers with movies and series is a great challenge for creators. With each subsequent year, it becomes more and more difficult to amuse, move and even scare the recipients without using cheap, hackneyed tricks. In March, a new horror film “It Lives Inside” was supposed to enter the cinemas, but it disappeared from the repertoires just before the premiere. Why did it happen?

In 2017, QC Entertainment produced the highly rated horror film Get Out! directed by Jordan Peele. An interesting script, an important social message and a sense of humor in the terrifying world of the characters brought the film many awards. Among them, four Oscar nominations and one statuette from the Academy – for the best original screenplay.

The horror film disappeared from theaters just before its premiere. They withdrew the film through test screenings

6 years after the premiere of “Get Out!” the producers got involved in the creation of another horror movie. This time it’s about “It Lives Inside”, which, like the 2017 film, addresses the problems of minorities. This time on the screen we see a teenager who rejects the Hindu traditions imposed on her by her family and chooses assimilation in American reality. The turning point in the film is the moment when the heroine of the film unleashes an Indian demon who kidnaps her best friend.

“It Lives Inside” was supposed to debut in March 2023, in Poland the film will go to cinemas on June 23 under the title “Służka”. The production recorded a score of 67 percent freshness from critics on Rotten Tomatoes who had already had the opportunity to see the picture. “Bishal Dutty has made an impressive directorial debut,” reads one of the reviews. “It’s a chilling allegory of a painful identity crisis that’s rarely seen on screen,” adds reviewer Stephanie Malone. Reactions to the film are very mixed, but the production managed to win the audience award at the South by Southwest festival.

Also, like WP Film, the film’s release was pulled from theaters at the last minute due to test screenings. The reactions at the pre-release screenings exceeded all the creators’ expectations, which is why the release date was moved to around Halloween. Then the horror movies with the greatest potential are introduced to the cinema screens.

Among the opinions there were also those that suggest that the production may turn out to be the scariest this year. “It’s an intimate horror film that slowly builds up suspense until it comes to a jaw-dropping finale. If it’s voted the scariest movie of the year, it deserves it. No massive amounts of blood spilled, no limbs cut off. Thankfully, it’s not. slasher” – one of the commenters of the portal.
