“They didn’t want to come back and I got mad”: John Stamos recalled why he was angry with sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen with whom he starred in “Full House” for years

Eight seasons that lasted “Full house”also known as “Tres por tres”, were enough to capture the attention of the American and Latin American public in the late 80’s and part of the 90’s.

Her success was so great that the ABC television series catapulted the careers of sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Two decades after the last broadcast in 1995, Netflix prepared a sequel in which some of its actors reunited on the screen, Mail Online reminds.

Big absences from the sitcom were the Olsen sisters, who refused to participate. With their decision, they caused the anger of Uncle Jesse Katsopolis, a character played by John Stamos since 1987.

On the podcast “And that’s what you REALLY missed“, Stamos reflected on the anger he felt towards the twins when he found out their position on the new project. In the original series, the sisters alternated in the roles of Michelle Tanner, one of the three daughters of Danny Tanner, played by Bob Saget.

He admitted that he was once angry with the sisters who finally retired from acting in 2012 to pursue their personal fashion projects and then created the label “The Row”.

“When I was doing ‘Fuller House,’ they wouldn’t come back and I got mad for a second,” John Stamos recalled on the podcast.

For a moment, Stamos thought that the Olsen sisters didn’t like the part of their childhood or their performance on the family comedy series and were therefore reluctant to reprise the role that made them famous on television.

Although Mary-Kate and Ashley did not join the spin-off, they patched things up with John Stamos in January 2022 following the death of his fictional father Bob Saget, who died aged 65 from a head injury.

The trio met after the physical disappearance of Saget, who played the lead role of a widowed father who needed help raising the DJ’s three daughters, Stephanie and Michelle.

“They came to my house. They brought pork cutlet and sage. I don’t know why, but thanks. It was a frozen pork chop, so it was very good. That’s how we were united again”, the actor and musician recalled that meeting with which he renewed his friendship with Olsen.

“We love our childhood, we loved being with you”, the words of the now fashion designers addressed to the actor with whom they shared part of their childhood on the set.

The memorable Uncle Jesse noted Bob Saget’s willingness to keep the cast going, even years after the show ended on television, and he didn’t hesitate to joke about his absence.

“I have to tell you, one of the few good things that came out of Bob’s death, well…Mary-Kate and Ashley, I didn’t see much of them. I mean, we kept in touch for a bit, but Bob really put us together. And they were great – he told about the reunion that brought them closer again. (AND)
