The top ten may surprise you. Why the change in scores?
Some of the results presented in the ranking may cause confusion. Since 2016, the scoring system has undergone major changes. During the finals, presenters from different countries present the results of the jurors’ votes, and the hosts present the votes of the viewers. This division significantly increased the number of maximum points that can be scored by representatives, and after converting to the new system, the scoreboard changes. Example? Mans Zelmerlow (Sweden), who won the final in 2015, received 365 points according to the old system. The second place was taken by the Russian Polina Gagarina with 303 points, the third – Il Volo (Italy) with 292 points. As the portal calculated, the new scoring system would look a bit different. Sweden would receive a total of 639 points (361 from the judges and 278 from the viewers), Italy – 553 (185 from the judges and 368 from the viewers), Russia would be third with 541 points (248 and 293 points respectively). This is why the scores for Norway in 2009, Italy in 2015 and Sweden in 2015 and 2012 look different in the above video than in the official results.
