In May, the actor informed fans on social media that in 2014 he reported to the DKMS database as a potential bone marrow donor. As the actor admitted, he did not expect that he would ever find a genetic twin and be able to save someone’s life. However, it happened. Kaliszuk agreed to a series of tests and was looking forward to the day when he would be able to donate hematopoietic cells to a leukemia patient. “I want to use my recognition and presence in the media to make you aware that it is possible. You can easily apply to the donor database and definitely increase the chances of saving human life,” the actor wrote in the network.

When the day of the transplant came, Kaliszuk admitted that despite his exciting professional work, he had never felt this way before. “I am a transplant donor. For me it was a ‘moment’ of sacrifice, and for my genetic twin it was the only and last chance for a second life,” the actor wrote on his Facebook and published smiling photos from the hospital.

“It cannot be compared to anything else, because someone’s life was in my hands” – writes Kaliszuk, but he points out that he was a bit afraid of the procedure. The actor also said that he had to change his habits for a while, he felt more tired and even had a bit of a pain in his back. Despite these minor inconveniences, the artist stated with full certainty that he did not doubt his intentions and the meaning of the gesture he had decided to make even for a moment.

Now the actor has only to keep his fingers crossed for his genetic twin. According to the procedures, Kaliszuk does not know to whom he donated his bone marrow, but in some time they will have a chance to meet. As we read on TVN24, the only details the actor knew about the bone marrow recipient was that the twin was a young boy of school age.
