The new edition of the music festival, held at the Palacio de Cristal in Guayaquil, is looking for the country’s most talented artists to be part of the bill.

The selected artists will have the valuable opportunity to show their work to curators and professionals from the international music industry. To apply, artists must have a solvent and dedicated career, stand out in technique and performance, and be attuned to Funka Fest’s musical concept, which spans a wide variety of genres such as electronic, urban, rock, indie, pop, reggae and other alternative genres.

The call for national artists who want to participate in Funka Fest 2023 is open until June 10.

Selection process and jury

The selection of the artists will be carried out through a rigorous and transparent curatorial process.

The Spanish Ivone Lesan will be in charge of the curatorship. With an outstanding career in the music industry since 2006 and her current role as a promoter of international artists on Primavera Sound’s booking team, Ivone will bring her vast knowledge and experience to the most promising artists.

Ivone Lesan, an advocate for the professionalization and feminization of the music industry, is known for her ability to address all aspects of music show hosting. In addition, Ivone is a member and founder of the Women of the Music Industry Association, MIM, demonstrating her commitment to equality and women’s empowerment in the musical field.

In the 2022 edition, Funka Fest celebrated a historic post-pandemic return, drawing over 6,000 music fans and showcasing prominent international artists such as Danny Ocean (who returns to the city in August this year), Ed Maverick, Bratty, Prophetic Culture, among Others.
