Dylan and Cole Sprouse, the actor brothers from the popular Disney series “Zack and Cody: The Twins in Action”, experienced fame from a young age, even before the age of one. Despite her undeniable talent and success on television, her career was surrounded by a complicated relationship with her mother.

The popular twins spent a large part of their childhood on the sets of series and movies. They became famous after participating in “Friends” and starring in the movie “Great Dad” with Adam Sandler.

What happened to your mother?

The television star revealed that they started in the world of entertainment because of the financial problems that their parents Matthew Sprouse and Melanie Wright were going through.

At 8 months old, they were taken to a casting where they managed to get a role in “Grace Under Fire”, a sitcom that aired on ABC.

For five years they played the character of Patrick Kelly in the series. From then on, his career only took off and grew.

Despite his success on television, his private life was chaos. His parents separated, and his mother fell into addictions that caused serious financial problems, draining the earnings the brothers received from each of their jobs.

Unfortunately, their mother also forced them to work in order to get money to finance their own addictions. These problems eventually seriously affected the relationship between mother and children.

After a court process, the twins’ father was able to get custody when they were 10 years old.

Matthew, their father, did not agree with his children’s desire to pursue an acting career, but eventually agreed. When they were 12 years old, they established themselves by landing their own lead role in “The Suit Life of Zack and Cody” on the Disney Channel.

After many conflicts, the brothers’ relationship with their mother never fully recovered.

Melanie, who is a painter, never achieved the recognition she hoped for in her career.

“My mom is still kind of a tortured artist who struggles with different things about her place in the world. I think she discovered an incredible amount of ‘identity’ as a mother and trying to make a profitable business out of it,” Cole said.

A new life for Dylan and Cole

Eventually, the brothers decided to take a break from their television careers to enroll at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Studies.

Both graduated with honors, Cole earning a degree in archeology while Dylan graduated as a video game designer.

Dylan and Cole also managed to land some major film and television roles. While Cole found his footing in the hit series “Riverdale,” Dylan recently starred in the movie “Wonderful Disaster.” (AND)
