Weeds in the garden can cause many problems. However, not everyone knows that they can be useful not only in plant care. We suggest how to use the pulled weeds instead of throwing them away.

Weeds can be a real nuisance, but they can be useful not only in the garden. We can prepare a nutritious fertilizer from some species of weeds, which will strengthen ours and make the plants grow more luxuriantly and healthier. Some of them can also successfully land on our plate.

How to use the pulled weeds? Instead of throwing them away, prepare fertilizer from them

If weeds have grown in our garden, instead of throwing them away, it is worth reusing them. From dry weeds, you can make a soil mulch, which improves fruiting and stimulates growth. However, remember that in this case weeds should not have seeds set, because they will spread around the garden.

Another way to use weeds is to prepare manure from them, which is a natural fertilizer for garden plants. To make such a fertilizer, we need 1 kg of weeds and 10 liters of water, which we pour over the plants. The solution should be stirred every few days, and when the fermentation process ends, we can water the plants with it, diluting it with water.

  1. We dilute the dandelion fertilizer in a ratio of 1:10. Perfect for strawberries, raspberries, strawberries or currants. Accelerates fruiting and growth.
  2. Mix tansy fertilizer with water in a ratio of 1:15. Repels aphids, ants and other plant pests.
  3. Dilute the nettle fertilizer with water in a ratio of 1:20 and water the tomatoes, brassicas, roses and fruit trees.

What to do with weeds? Some of them may end up on your plate

Weeds can also be used in the kitchen. They contain many nutrients and are a great addition to dishes. Edible weeds include:

  • Plantain,
  • common garlic,
  • common chickweed,
  • white quinoa,
  • greater burdock,
  • dandelion.

We can prepare soup, make a cocktail or salad from weeds. Quinoa will be a great addition to the casserole, chickpea leaves taste like spinach, and plantain or burdock leaves will make tasty chips.
