Although 43-year-old Ewelina Flinta became recognizable throughout Poland after participating in the first Polish edition of “Idol”, she entered the world of music much earlier, in the 1990s. She was the vocalist of such bands as: Alioth, Dobre Piwo or Surprise, with whom she performed at Przystanek Woodstock from 1997 to 1999. This made the young girl with a characteristic voice start to be talked about in the rock environment. After some time, she moved to Warsaw to improve her vocal skills. In 2001, this resulted in joining the cast of the play “Metro”, which is staged by the legendary Buffo Theatre.
Ewelina Flinty’s road to fame
However, the real breakthrough came a year later when Flinta decided to try her hand at Polsat’s new talent show. It was then the first edition of “Idol”, which blazed some trails on the Polish market. Because there was no such program in our country before, which meant that both its creators and participants did not quite know what to expect. The singer was very lucky because she reached the finals, eventually winning the second place, losing to Alicja Janosz.
However, it was Ewelina Flincie who got lucky. A year later, she released her debut album Destiny, which was promoted by the single I regret. The song quickly became a hit and was very eagerly played by radio stations. Despite this, to this day, few people know that the song and the entire album are from “publishing”, i.e. the so-called. music bank. The song was originally performed by Serbian singer Ana Stanić and was released in 1998 under the name “Sama”. In 2004, this song was recorded in Czech by Aneta Langerová under the title “Skvelej nápad”.
But that didn’t bother anyone. The album quickly gained the status of gold, and the artist went on a concert tour promoting the publishing house. At that time, she also received a lot of awards, including an Eska Music Awards statuette for “the best artist of 2004”. This made her decide to release her second album “You don’t know me” a year later, which was very popular at the time, but now the songs from this album are forgotten by many. Later, her career begins to slow down a bit, but in 2008 she returns like a phoenix from the ashes with the song “Nie lie that you love me”, which she sang in a duet with Łukasz Zagrobelny. The song conquers the Polish charts, in June the duo receives Super1 in the “Hit of the Year” category in Opole. However, after this event, she decided to step back a bit.
During her hiatus, she was still involved in music
After several years, she started performing again at Przystanek Woodstock, where she sang a well-received cover of Janis Joplin’s song “Cry baby”. She also planned to release a third album, performing songs she prepared for it in concerts, but ultimately did not release it. In the years 2010-2015 she was involved in the music project Flinta&Palma&Fazi, which is a mix of rock, pop and jazz. The group also included Adam Palma and Mariusz Mielczarek. At that time, she is still involved in activities for the benefit of Anna Dymna’s “Mimo Dobrze” foundation, which she began to support in the period of greatest prosperity. In 2018, she took part in Luiza Staniec’s social and musical project “Sounds Like Women”, which was to draw attention to the lack of equality in work and pay for women, domestic violence, sexual harassment, unequal treatment due to skin color or origin.
On this occasion, after a long break, she recorded her first song. The song “Tell Me Why” was released in August 2018 and was based on the stories of three women who suffered domestic violence. A music video was made for the song, which premiered on March 4, 2019. The song, along with four others, appeared on the mini-album Fri. “Without Violence & of All Colors”. Since then, the artist stopped releasing music again, and the change did not come until three years later.
In May 2022, the artist shared a photo from the recording studio on Instagram, which she signed: “It’s done! For the first time in my life I recorded a guitar for my song! Pride! Recordings: Kamil Wyziński, Fun House Studio. Thank you.” This was the first information that the singer started working on another album after 17 years. Ewelina Flinta kept her word and in July she released the song “In Love” with a guest appearance by Natalia Grosiak, which was her great return to music after many years. Less than a month later, she organized the premiere of her third album, and tickets for this event sold out very quickly. In the fall of 2022, she also performed at Klub Niebo in Warsaw, and the concert itself received very good reviews.
The artist has not yet released a new album, but she is successively releasing singles promoting the upcoming release. In addition to the previously mentioned “Zakochana”, these are “Frutti di Mare” and “Panno Chłod”, which are part of the #MozeszMiPowiedzec social campaign supporting victims of sexual violence. Ewelina Flinta even appeared on Dobry TVN to perform the second song live, but ultimately the performance did not take place. All because the hosts talked too long with Piotr Kraśko, which meant that there was no time for Flinta’s performance. The station apologized to the singer and promised that her performance would be aired later. However, so far, the artist has not appeared on the show again.
It is worth mentioning that what distinguishes Ewelina Flinta is her involvement in important social issues. For a long time, the artist has been willing to participate in various campaigns and supports foundations that help people with disabilities or sick children. In addition, the singer recently took part in a special action of the Woman Gazeta.pl portal on the occasion of Mother’s Day, in which she told what she would like to hear most from her mother. All this means that the artist is not slowing down, and her new album is due to appear this year.
