Peony is otherwise called a peony. It blooms in late spring and early summer. It grows best in fertile and sufficiently moist soil. Likes sunny and wind-protected places. Once you plant it, it needs 2 years to take root well. In the meantime, you need to fertilize it regularly. Although cultivation is not particularly demanding, there are a few rules to follow. We present the most common mistakes made in breeding peonies.

Why and when do peonies not bloom? Common mistakes in cultivation

Peony should be planted in August or September. If you plant it later, the flowers will definitely not appear. The most common reason why a plant does not bloom is the lack of sufficient light. Good sunlight is a necessary condition for the buds to bloom. The shoot should be 4-5 cm below the ground. If it is planted too deep, no flowers will appear. The peony needs to be watered regularly, and the soil around it should be kept moist all the time. It is best to water it 1-2 times a week, but abundantly. The right soil will store water and deliver it to the roots on an ongoing basis. Sometimes the lack of new flowers can be caused by aphids or diseases, such as gray mold or leaf spot. Then you need to get rid of the infected parts of the plant and use spraying.

Fertilizer for peonies. Use natural ingredients

Flowers need fertilizer, but its excess can harm them and bring the opposite effect to the intended one. In the case of peonies, a multi-ingredient fertilizer for flowering plants should be used. Then the proportions are right and allow the plant to bloom. Peony should be fertilized twice a year: in spring (March/April) and in autumn (September/October). An effective and natural means of fertilization are coffee grounds. Pour them with water, mix and pour into a spray bottle. Spray the peonies with the resulting mixture. You can also use lemon water. Pour some lemon juice into a watering can and water the flowers.
