Father Daniel Wachowiak, known for his controversial statements, shared an entry of an Internet user from a year ago on Twitter. The woman complained about how she and her daughter had been treated at mass.
“The priest from the pulpit told me to leave the church because the two-year-old was running around the pews during the sermon. I did not leave and did not react, I was wondering how long the break in the sermon could last and whether he would come down to take us out. After a few seconds he returned to the sermon” she wrote.
Fr. Wachowiak stated, among other things, that “parents who do not react when they should react are the most disturbing in experiencing the mass.”
Parents for whom child-centeredness has supplanted the understanding of how important the liturgy is and how difficult it is to preach and listen to the word

The priest’s words caused quite a stir. Under his entry, you can find many comments from people who support the priest’s attitude. However, it was not without words of criticism. The parents emphasized, among others, that children’s needs and behaviors are different and not everyone can afford to leave a child at home under the care of another person.
“There is one problem, Father. The Church teaches that you should be open to having many children. Not every child is calm either. Often, it is also not possible to leave a child at home. This means that such a parent can be excluded from the Holy Mass. for years,” wrote one user of the platform.
“If only it were that simple… The most ‘active’ children at mass are most often children with ASD. Children on the autism spectrum are often unable to sit still because there are too many distractions and a warning from a parent is not by no means the strongest of them,” added another parent.

“Well, I’m sorry that my little children are disturbing you. I won’t wait until I’m 7 to show them that you have to go to mass. Anyway, I may die before I can show them that then. That’s why I go to such masses where they are welcome,” notes another person.
