the japanese artist Tadanori Yamaguchi has prepared a four-piece installation in Mañaria, in the Angurreta Harrobia artistic space. The old mine now presents a unique aspect, thanks to human intervention.

The works of Tadanori Yamaguchi (Nagoya, 1970) “dialogue with space and seek the dynamism of nature and the passage of time”, as they explain from the artistic space. In Mañaria, he has stamped the surface of the stone on aluminum, and the result can be seen for three years.

Angurreta Harrobia Arte Espazioa opened its doors in Mañaria in 2021. It is a mine that has not been exploited since the 1970s, in which an association manages a cultural center directed by the artist Victor Arrizabalaga.

The old Angurreta quarry, in Mañaria, is located in the Aldebaraieta neighbourhood. Its stone was famous for its black tone reminiscent of marble, and it became known as “the gray of Mañaria”.
