At the end of Monday’s edition of “Contact Glass”, one of the hosts, Krzysztof Dauszkiewicz, made outrageous words that are now widely commented on in various media. They happened when the second host, Tomasz Sianecki, announced that he was joining Piotr Jacon, who runs another program in the schedule. It was then that Dauszkiewicz blurted out thoughtlessly: “So what gender is he today?”.
The host of “Day after day”, who is the father of a transgender daughter, did not react to these words. He decided to refer to the whole situation only the next day in a post on Instagram. “Remember my face. It’s the face of pissed off and helpless. And also a dilemma: how to explain to a family that is laughing at the best of another mustachioed uncle’s joke, why do I have tears in my eyes? How to do it so as not to hear that as usual am I spoiling the fun and exaggerating? Putting my emotions aside, yesterday’s situation is perfect proof of how the introduction of the language of hate to the salons (including the salons of my bubble) ends, “- we read in Jaconia’s post on Instagram.
“Wiadomości” attacks Dauszkiewicz and TVN, allegedly defending the victims
Although Dauszkiewicz quickly reflected and we could hear on the air: “I think I fucked up stupidity”, and after the program he went to Jaconia to apologize to him, the journalist said that he did not want to talk to him. And he publicly stated that he did not accept the apology. In the public space, Tomasz Sianecki apologized for Dauszkiewicz’s words in the Tuesday edition of “Szkła”. Importantly, he did not apologize to “those who felt offended”, but to everyone. However, the journalists of Telewizja Polska decided to catch the tail and created material for “Wiadomości”, which was announced by Danuta Holecka as unmasking the hypocrisy of TVN and “crossing further borders”.
Officially: tolerance and political correctness, and under this mask hatred, contempt and crossing subsequent borders, including good taste – this was the full announcement of the “Wiadomości” material.
Later, it was shown fragment of Daukszewicz’s performance, in which the satirist told a joke about two pilots of a government plane. Reporter Jan Korab accused Daukszewicz of making jokes about the victims of the Smolensk catastrophe for years. “This joke proves that the alleged support for left-wing, progressive postulates is of an instrumental nature,” said Adrian Stankiewicz, a government media commentator.
Then, the behavior of Tomasz Sianecki was taken on the wallpaper, who, according to the “Wiadomości” reporter, first apologized to Piotr Jaconia and then “immediately shared responsibility with the politicians of Law and Justice”. “I also apologize to Mr. Dominik Tarczyński, who felt – and rightly so – indignant. It is a pity that President Duda, Minister Czarnek and President Jarosław Kaczyński did not join this indignation,” Sianecki said in the Tuesday edition of “Contact Glass”.
These words outraged PiS MEP Dominik Tarczyński, who became an expert on inclusive language on Telewizja Polska: “What TVN did was not an apology, but another mockery of the people they ridiculed. TVN showed who he is. On TVN we saw the hypocrisy.” At the very end, the creator of the material, Jan Korab, summed up the scandal around the case of Piotr Jacoń and the behavior of the TVN station in strongly emotional words:
From under the pseudo-tolerant and politically correct mask, a real, primitive face appeared again.
TVP reaction is another political game
Patrycja Wieczorkiewicz wrote in Krytyka Polityczna in her text “”. The journalist pointed out that the context in which Dauszkiewicz made a stupid statement is important in this case.
It turns out that before Piotr Jaconia went on air, a compilation of harmful statements by right-wing politicians who mock transgender people and say that they “feel women” was shown in “Kontakt Glass”. Although it turned out very badly, this is what Daukszewicz referred to.
On the other hand, the reaction of the government media, which has been conducting an open campaign against LGBT+ people for several years, is an ordinary attack on journalists who do not support the current authorities and the station where these people work. They don’t think about the experiences of trans people and their families at all, only about sticking another pin in their competition just before the election.
