Butter churning hit of Eurovision. Cleo comments on our text about referring to her performance

Although this year marks nine years since Donatan and Cleo presented the song “My, Slavs” at the Eurovision Song Contest, Eurovision did not forget about the butter churns accompanying them on stage. Also during this year’s competition, the organizers referred to those scenes. Cleo commented on Gazeta.pl’s text on this subject.

During Donatan and Cleo’s performance in Copenhagen, there was a place on the stage for singing choirs and dancing women in folk costumes, as well as two rather scantily clad women who performed other activities on the sides of the stage. One of them (Aleksandra Ciupa) was washing on a washboard, the other (Paula Tumala) was churning butter – and that’s what went down in the history of the competition. The song itself was ranked 14th in the competition.

Eurovision 2023. Who churned the butter and what did Cleo say?

In 2023, butter churning did not appear on the scene, but in the so-called green room, i.e. a place where all players wait for their turn or rest after the performance, awaiting the results of the vote. When Hannah Waddingham, one of the hosts, stopped by to talk to the Armenian representative, a butter churner sat in the background. This time it was BBC presenter Mel Giedroyc. It has Polish-Lithuanian roots.
