above all, she loved her own. In the late 1990s, she decided to move to Tarnów with him. There she planned to start a new life after her husband abused her and the boy for years. Elżbieta M. could not accept the death of Amadeus. An attempt to establish a relationship with a colleague from work ended tragically
Anyone who knew Elżbieta M. was aware of the strong bond she had with the deceased boy. The woman was not supposed to get along with the one she had broken off with, so Amadeus was the closest to her. When he died, she did not often visit him at the cemetery, which surprised her friends. A few weeks after her son’s death, Elżbieta decided to find a loved one with whom she could continue her life. She fell in love with a work colleague who comforted her after the boy’s death, but he was already in a relationship with 21-year-old Katarzyna O. It is not known whether they had an affair or whether the woman had a secret crush on him. One day, she made contact with young Katarzyna and persuaded her to meet her at her apartment. There, the women argued. Elizabeth beat the woman to death, and after three days carried her body into an elevator and set it on fire. Determining who was the perpetrator of the act was not difficult, because the neighbors had heard Katarzyna O.’s screams a few days earlier, and technicians found the victim’s hair in the vacuum cleaner in the cleaned apartment. Elżbieta M. was arrested and then sentenced to 11 years in prison.
The woman complained of health problems, which is why in 2006 a decision was made to release her conditionally from prison. She lived in a rented apartment with her friend Krystyna and for some time led a relatively calm, normal life. Nothing foretold that only a year later he would commit another terrible act.
She lured the eight-year-old into her apartment and strangled her. The murder looked similar to the crime committed against her son
Elżbieta planned to go to the cemetery to visit her son’s grave, which she did not do often. It is not known whether she reached there, but it is certain that she went to visit one of Tarnów’s elementary schools. There, she spotted 8-year-old Madzia, whom she accosted near the building and encouraged her to go with her. She took the child to the apartment she and her friend Krystyna rented before they moved to another place. Turns out she still had the keys to it. Elizabeth strangled the girl. For the act, the woman used a bandage cut into pieces. Afterwards, she abandoned her child’s school backpack and stole a stroller from neighbors to carry Madzia’s body into the nearby bushes to bury her in a makeshift grave.
The plan failed because on the way she met a group of men. They quickly drew attention to the woman and the stroller from which Madzia’s legs were sticking out. By then, news of the girl’s disappearance had already spread, and they were probably among those looking for her. The accosted 36-year-old Elżbieta nervously said that she was going to the clinic with the child because she fell ill with strep throat, but one of the men noticed that she was going in a completely different direction. Then she asked them to look after the baby. She explained that she wanted to call an ambulance. When the men uncovered Madzia’s face, it turned out that she was completely blue and dead. They quickly realized what had happened and set off in pursuit of the escaping Elżbieta M. Once they captured her, they notified the police and held the woman until authorities arrived.
Elżbieta M. tried to explain why she murdered 8-year-old Madzia. She said her dead son ordered her to do so
from the beginning she was lost in her testimony and changed her version of events every now and then. At first, she said that she had found a sick child at school and wanted to help him, and later claimed that she was suffering from memory loss. She also said that she wanted to take the girl to her house, and that she hugged her tightly and did not remember any more. When she finally admitted her guilt, she shocked with yet another confession. She stated that she was haunted by the spirit of her deceased son, who was supposed to come to her in various situations and regardless of her will. The boy was supposed to give her suggestions and plans for further murders. He was also to demand that he bring a child who would be his friend and playmate. The woman’s confession aroused the vigilance of the investigators, who decided to check whether Elżbieta M. was sane at the time of the murder. Several psychiatric observations did not bring clear results. Some doctors claimed that the woman could be feigning, while others speculated that she was sick.
Elżbieta M. was sane at the time of the crime. She was sentenced to life imprisonment
time, it was assumed that the woman was fully aware of what she was doing. It was noted that she probably wanted to be declared insane so that she would be sent to a psychiatric institution instead of jail. Elżbieta M. asked the prosecutor several times to point out that she was suffering from mental illness. After appeals and attempts to mitigate the sentence, it was found that there were no mitigating circumstances, so this time Elżbieta O. was sentenced to life imprisonment.
